Sew Red – Sewing & Quilting for Women’s Heart Health

Namaste! Hi! Hello!

How are you doing? Yeah, I am doing well too!

I had won Sew Red book in a Threads Magazine giveaway half a year back. I received my prize in a beautiful red package on 31st December 2013 in my native.

Sew Red - within An Attractive Red Package

Sew Red came within An Attractive Red Package

I wished a lot to show it to my readers. But, it was quite a large book and since my luggage was tightly packed, I came back without the book heavy heartedly. Finally, Sew Red is with me 🙂 So, today I decided to show my book to you!

Sew Red – as defined in www.stitchred.com

Sew Red is the first sewing and quilting book to put a stylish twist on raising awareness about heart disease in women! Authored by Laura Zander and with a foreword by designer and veteran journalist Deborah Norville, Sew Red is a follow-up to Knit Red, offering the same level of excitement and inspiration, with projects from such fabric design, sewing, and quilting luminaries as Ty Pennington, Amy Butler, Tula Pink, Brett Bara, Anna Maria Horner, and Kaffe Fassett. Including everything from couture dresses to wearable skirts and tops, fashionable accessories, home decor items and fresh, modern takes on traditional quilting designs, there is something for sewers and quilters of all tastes! Additionally, the book highlights each designer’s personal experiences with heart disease and how they stay heart-healthy, as well as other heart-healthy living information, tips, resources and recipes.

(Stitch Red is a US wide campaign that is supported by Needlearts industry in order to raise awareness about heart disease in women.)

What’s Inside Sew Red?

Sew Red - Beautiful Cover Pages

Sew Red Cover Pages – Aren’t they Beautiful?

1. Exciting 27 unique quilting and sewing projects with incredible fabrics (I just fell in love with the fabrics) for the beginners by 27 experts along with tips for heart health + bonus pattern of Piece of My Heart Pincushion:

  •   12 quilting projects for home illustrating basics of quilting.
  •   Making of 5 dresses for different occasion; and 9 different accessories including shoulder bags, back pack, scarves, necklace, etc
  •  Patterns and other necessary design templates for the projects

2. An introduction to sewing basics including general sewing supplies, metric conversion, basic fabric terminology, cutting fabric, pressing fabric, basic stitches and binding. They are very useful tips for the beginners that make them professional.

3. It is a beginner’s book useful even for an advanced sewer. Instructions may seem complicated and may require repeated reading for better understanding, but they are perfect for following once understood clearly.

4. Heart health facts

5. Exercising tips for heart

6. Delicious recipes for heart

7. A part of the proceeds from Sew Red would be donated to the Foundation for the National Institutes of Health (FNIH) in support of The Heart Truth.

So, Sew Red is a lot more than just a sewing and quilting book for sure!

I have very little quilting experience except for submitting a small quilt sample as my lab work long ago when I was a student. Thousands of quilting works over internet have always surprised me. I hope Sew Red inspires me to start quilting soon! Best wishes to Sew Red, may their campaign succeed!

Dear Reader, you know, there was no post last week. Well, nothing serious. I couldn’t write anything useful. There are many topics that I need to talk as per your requests and my commitments, but, I couldn’t put my 100% on any topic that was worth seeking your time. So, it was a no post week. Also, I might have not answered to your comment/s or e-mail/s yet… I will surely reply. It is my duty to respond to my readers and I hope to fulfil your requests as soon as possible by me 🙂

Thanks for understanding 🙂

Bye for now! TC!
